The New York Islanders announced that they will be playing a preseason game at Nassau Coliseum against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Wow, huge bomb dropped from Arthur Staple on Twitter today. The New York Islanders will be playing a preseason game at the new Nassau Coliseum. Now this is something I never thought I’d hear.

Nearly a month ago we were writing on how it was possible for a return but I said I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s time to see it folks.

The game is on a football Sunday at 1:00 pm which is pretty lame if you ask me but at least the Jets are on the West coast and the Giants are on Monday night so it doesn’t interfere with the local teams.

Sure, a preseason game isn’t the comeback we were all hoping for but it’s a start atleast. Here’s how twitter reacted to the news:

Some positive some negative, but overall I’m pretty happy about it. I’d take anything at this point and like I said it’s a start. It’ll be a playoff like atmosphere for a preseason game which will be odd, but I feel like I have to go (I’m sure 40,000 Long Islanders feel the same way).

Next announcement better be a trade or a John Tavares extension though!
