The two likely candidates that the New York Islanders will trade are Calvin de Haan and Travis Hamonic. Although this trade proposal, I didn’t like.

Everyone and their mother is coming up with a trade proposal for the New York Islanders. Like I said de Haan and Hamonic are usually the first names to be mentioned for this trade. Jonathon Willis had a trade idea that was really odd to me.

He has the Isles sending Calvin de Haan to Buffalo. Buffalo? I’ve heard Edmonton or Colorado but Buffalo that was different. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the sad part of this trade.

He has the Isles getting a second and a third round pick for the former first round selection. That in itself is sad.

There’s no way the Islanders can move de Haan for two picks. They are in a position to add already established NHL players they don’t need another piece for their prospect pool.

The alternative I guess would be losing de Haan in expansion, which we think is going to happen anyway, or move him in a deal to bring Jordan Eberle or Matt Duchene. If Garth Snow acquires draft picks in a trade that’s a fireable offense.
