Number One: John Tavares (Round 1 Pick 1 2009)

Would there be any other answer? John Tavares was the obvious selection, but he still was the one to pull the trigger on it and it’s worked out. Tavares is the leader of this team, he has been pretty much since his arrival.

He put up 54 points in his rookie year, having an immediate impact on the team as a 19-year old. He’s looked at as one of the league’s best players and rightfully so. He can singly handedly take over games.

I still get chills watching that. His time as an Islander can’t be done though. Garth selected him to be the savior of the Islanders franchise, he’s done all he can by himself it’s time that Garth belly ups to the bar and makes some moves to give Tavares a chance to bring a cup to the Islanders and their fans.
