New York Islanders GM Garth Snow has a pretty good track record when it comes to the NHL Entry Draft. But not every record is unblemished. Garth has him some bad picks to his name.

Since Garth Snow took over as GM of the New York Islanders he’s managed to do a few things. Draft a number of talented players, get to the playoffs four times in eleven seasons, and alienate almost an entire fanbase.

You’d think that the first, strong drafting, would lead to a better than 36% playoff appearance rate. Which in turn would placate the fans. Well, at least some fans at least.

The Isles current roster is made up almost entirely from the draft. Of the 24 players that made up the Islanders active roster last season half were drafted by the Islanders. And that doesn’t include players like Adam Pelech, Josh Ho-Sang, or Ryan Pulock.

Players like John Tavares and Anders Lee are noted successes of the Garth draft pool. But obviously, it hasn’t all been a success for Garth Snow.

Among some of his noted accomplishments at the draft table, he’s had some blunders. Which just highlights how the draft is still a guessing game.
