New York Islanders: New Matt Duchene Trade Rumor

There’s a new rumor flying around the internet linking Matt Duchene to the New York Islanders. The names on the Isles side have changed though.
The rumor mill is firing on all cylinders. If you’re not refreshing Twitter every three seconds chances are you’ve already missed a rumor and it’s already old news. I saw one yesterday that intrigued me very much, and the New York Islanders were involved.
It was a Matt Duchene trade rumor but the players involved were different from normal. Travis Hamonic, Ryan Pulock and Mathew Barzal’s names were nowhere to be found. Instead, Ryan Strome and Calvin de Haan suddenly appeared.
I've confirmed #Isles very much in Duchene sweepstakes again & I'm hearing (not confirmed) from #NHL sources de Hann & Strome maybe involved

Sign me up. If the Islanders can somehow acquire Matt Duchene without giving up a prospect like Pulock and Barzal while also holding onto Travis Hamonic that right there can be chalked up as a win.
I don’t believe it would only be Strome and de Haan. You would have to figure there’d be one more piece. Maybe a second round selection? Maybe a prospect who hasn’t been brought up as much?

Regardless of what it is I would do it in a heartbeat.
Is Duchene coming off a down year? Yes, but he’s still just 26 years old and he’s scored 30 goals in his career before. Normally, it’s a safe bet that he finishes with 50 or more points in a season. Plus if he’s centering a second line of Brock Nelson and Josh Ho-Sang it would be a darn near lock of the century to expect 50 plus points out of Duchene.
As the great Lloyd Christmas once said “I like it a lot”
If the Grabovski and Kulemin rumors are true maybe Garth has enough room to add another piece too. Then maybe he goes Travis Hamonic for Jordan Eberle straight up? Now you’re really cookin’
