A video was released from the New York Islanders official Twitter account of Travis Hamonic and why he is up for the Foundation Player Award.

I don’t throw out the term must watch too often but in this case, I certainly will have no issues putting a must watch tag on this video. The video comes from the New York Islanders twitter account and it shows why he’s up for the Player Foundation Award (he won by the way).

I don’t have to say anything else, just watch:

I’ve talked about it before on this website but the things that Travis Hamonic does for charity is unbelievable. I for one can’t fathom what it would be like to lose a parent as a child. Travis goes out of his way to help children who’ve gone through the same horrific tragedy that he did.

In sports a lot of times it’s the bad things that get all the publicity. It’s too often we forget the guys like Hammer who take time out of their busy and important schedule to help children get through a difficult time. I have no problem bringing up Hamonic’s charity work again on this website, it deserves all the recognition it can get.

I found out about this charity work back in 2015 when ESPN did an E60 on him. I immediately bought a Hamonic jersey after that. Granted, I was in the market for a new jersey but I thought wow here’s a guy who is a solid player on the ice and an even better person off the ice what’s a better combination than that?

Next: Isles Schedule Speculation

Anyway, I know I’ll have a tough time if he’s traded this offseason. Sure, it’s a business but it’s so hard not to root for guys like this and not want them on your team. If this is indeed the final few days of Travis Hamonic’s Islanders career I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do Hammer, and the world would be a better place with more people like you.
