New York Islanders Daily: Garth Snow’s Trade At Expansion Draft

New York Islanders General Manager Garth Snow stole the show by making a big trade with the Vegas Golden Knights at last night’s expansion draft.
Trade Garth showed his face for the first time since trading for New York Islanders legend Shane Prince. The trade was a little different than originally expected but it was still completely worth it.
The Isles gave up this year’s first, 2019’s second rounder, Mikhail Grabovski and Jake Bischoff in exchange for Vegas to select J.F. Berube.
It may seem like a lot to some, but it really isn’t. This year’s draft is poor plus a 15th overall selection isn’t going to make an impact at the NHL for another three years or so. The Isles are in “win now” mode a draft pick doesn’t do them any good unless it’s used in a trade.

Now, as of 8:00 am this morning the freeze is up and trades could be made again. The next step is making a trade for a top-six forward.
It seems like Matt Duchene and Jordan Eberle are the obvious targets. It may not just be one of them coming here as well. As we discussed yesterday one Edmonton insider believes the Isles are in play to land both of them.
The next 48 hours or so is going to be crazy, and you thought the Expansion Draft was tough to get through. Ha!
