No. 1 The Battle of New York Part 1 10/19/2017 @ New York Rangers

I don’t know about you, but Rangers-Islanders games are the ones I immediately circle on my calendar as soon as the schedule is released. The rivalry that is Rangers vs Islanders is one of the greatest in all of sports with some rich history.

These games have a playoff-like atmosphere. The stakes are higher because no one wants to lose to their cross-town rivals. Both teams have two points as well as bragging rights on the line.

These teams will meet a total of four times: October 19th and January 13th in MSG and February 15th and April 5th at the Barclays’s Center.

Two years ago the Islanders swept their season series against the Rangers. In 2016-17 the two teams split the four-game series two apiece.

More importantly, the Isles showed at the end of the season that they could play the Rangers, and beat them even, and then have enough to take a top team in the league in Pittsburgh the following day.

It looks like the Metropolitan Division is going to be a tough division so the Islanders have to get off to a good start if they want to avoid last season’s troubles. We might see some more changes to the roster before the season starts in approximately 107 days. Start your countdown Isles fans. Is it October yet
