Garth Snow catches a lot of shade from the New York Islanders fanbase. But every now and then he tosses a bone and makes an absolutely great move. Here are his best five trades.
New York Islanders GM Garth Snow isn’t a loved GM by the fanbase. For years he’s perplexed the fans with a number of odd moves.
Like keeping three goaltenders on the roster for the last two season. The idea of having injury protection in the crease sounds like a great idea. But you realize it’s a terrible idea when it takes up an active roster spot for 143 games in two seasons.
Or how about trading Thomas Vanek, for a hope and a prayer in Sebastien Colberg and a conditional second round pick. After acquiring him via trade for Matt Moulson, a fist round pick and a second round pick less than six months earlier.
If you’re in the “I’m not a fan of Garth Snow” camp. You’ve probably got a good reason to be there. Or you like getting in on the Anti-Garth meme game. I get it.
There’s a good crowd of anti-Garthers out there. And more than enough Twitter accounts dedicated to Garth Snow. It’s fun and there’s company.
But even though he’s guilty of those two bad moves, and a number of others, he’s still managed to strike gold on a few occasions.
