New York Islanders Metropolitan Division Stronger After Free Agency

Carolina Hurricanes
Big things are happening in Carolina. They had an alright season in 2016-17 finishing with 87 points. More than was expected from this young squad.
In the offseason, they went and acquired a goalie in Scott Darling from the Chicago Blackhawks for picks. They added Trevor van Riemsdyk from the Vegas Golden Knights, again for picks. And then picked up Justin Williams in free agency.
Carolina Hurricanes Off-Season Moves:
They added a few names in key positions and gave up nothing off their roster to do so. Sorry, they sent backup Eddie Lack to the Calgary Flames.
But it’s impossible not to think that the Hurricanes didn’t get better from last season. Mainly because of the moves they made in the blue paint.
While with the Blackhawks the massive 6’6″ 223lbs goaltender had a 2.37 GAA and .923 SV% in 75 games over three seasons. Last season alone, in 32 games played Darling had a 2.38 GAA and .924SV%.
Eddie Lack, and now backup Cam Ward, combined for a .901 SV% for the Carolina Hurricanes. There’s no question that the Hurricanes will be better in net 2017-18. And that alone will win them a few games and put them in a playoff hunt.
