The New York Islanders agreed to terms with goalie Kristers Gudlevskis who they acquired via trade recently from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Remember Garth Snow’s big splash on July 1, 2017? Well, if you forgot like most of us did the New York Islanders acquired Kristers Gudlevskis from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Carter Verhaeghe.

The Isles signed Gudlevskis yesterday to a one-year two-way contract. Hopefully, this isn’t Garth Snow trying to recreate his three goalie system once again (because that went so swimmingly the last time).

I’m assuming this means he will spend most of the time in Bridgeport but will be available to the Islanders in case of an emergency.

Gudlevskis appeared in one game with the Lightning last year, and the 24-year-old also posted a 2.65 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch.

That wasn’t the only Islanders newsworthy story. The Islanders officially added Kelly Buchberger to the staff. This has been talked about for a while but it only became official as of yesterday. Buchberger has most recently served as Vice President of player development with the Oilers.
