Goaltender

Kieth Kincaid, Farmingville

If there’s one position that Long Island only New York Islanders lack, it’s in the crease. Keith Kincaid is the only standout active goaltender from Long Island. It’s slim pickings I tell you.

Born in Farmingville, Kincaid was undrafted and signed with the New Jersey Devils while still in College. He’s gone on to average a 2.68 GAA and .912 SV%. They aren’t great numbers, but their serviceable numbers in the NHL.

There’s no mistaking it, Kincaid for a solid NHL level backup. That’s it. This team is going to have to put in some serious double duties both on the defensive and offensive end to keep pucks out of the net.

With a 47.9% and 45.2% Corsi-For, for both Kyle Palmieri and Brandon Sutter respectively, don’t expect the bulk of play to be at the other end of the rink. Charlie McAvoy might not get the chance to show off his offensive skills as much. Instead, being hemmed in his own zone more often than not.

Did I miss a player that you know was at the very least born on Long Island? Or do you know of a player that might have been born elsewhere but raised on the Island? If so, let me know in the comments. They might just be the catalyst the team needs.
