PITTSBURGH, PA – OCTOBER 27: Nick Leddy /

Other Great Moves

Trading for Johnny Boychuk. Trading for Nick Leddy. And giving up nothing in the process. Remember, getting both required Garth Snow to give up three prospects and three picks.

Snow gave Chicago TJ Miller, Ville Pokka, and Anders Nilsson for Nick Leddy and goalie Kent Simpson. And he gave Boston a second-round in the 2015 draft, a second in the 2016 draft and a conditional third in 2015 for Boychuk.

Trading Griffin Reinhardt for (essentially) Mat Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier. Extending Adam Pelech to one of the best contract in hockey. Keeping the best goaltending farm system in the NHL intact.

Sure, Garth Snow has his faults. I did not even touch on the fact that the John Tavares situation is getting very scary, as Tavares has been hesitant to pledge his allegiance to the Islanders. He has also had his fair share of overpays and wrong decisions, but that is normal for a GM in the NHL.

Next: Isles Should Make Play Fro Hjalmarsson

Even though he is hated by the fanbase, Snow has done a fantastic job grooming the Islanders into a contender. The work he has done should be appreciated and not tarnished, because without him, who knows what the Islanders would have looked like this season.
