New York Islanders Can’t More Up In Metropolitan Power Ranking

New York Islanders | Last Week: 3, This Week: 3 (N/A)
Points: 35, Record: 17-10-3, Division Rank: 2
The New York Islanders are second in the Metropolitan Division. But they’ve been stuck at third place in our power ranking since we started doing them at these. That December road trip really sunk them after the work they put in in November.
But with a 1.23 points-per-game, they aren’t averaging enough points to bump them up the power ranking.
Thankfully, the Islanders have been able to keep up with the rest of the pack and not sink down into the non-playoff spots.
Strength
Offense. Offense. Offense. The New York Islanders possess the second best offence with 108 goals for. That’s the beauty of having Mathew Barzal on the roster, it completely opens up the top line.
Weakness
They allow way too many goals against. With a crisp 100 goals against the New York Islanders rank 26 in the league. That has to change. And maybe it’s already starting. Jaroslav Halak is 2-2-0 over his last five games putting up a 0.924 SV% and 2.4 GAA. Maybe the problem is sorting itself out? Maybe?
