NEW YORK, NY – DECEMBER 01: Anders Lee /

Third: Anders Lee’s First Goal of 2017-18 Season

The game. The St. Louis Blues are at the Barclays center for the Islanders third game of the 2017-18 NHL season. After getting buried in a 2-0 hole to the visitors the Andrew Ladd cut the deficit by one 13 minutes into the third period.

With just over a minute to go, the Isles were still looking for that equalizing goal. And then exactly at the 19-minute mark of the third Anders Lee puts in his first goal of the season.

We’ve seen this play from Anders Lee before. Stand in front of the goalie and gobble up the rebound. So what makes this one special?

Just how quickly Anders Lee gets to this one.

Thomas Hickey gets the shot on net, its got some power behind and Jake Allen can’t get the puck to stick to him. He does a good job of taking out much of the punch from the shot. Allen knows he didn’t stop it and there’s a rebound. but he can’t find it.

Anders Lee makes no such mistake. He spots it right away and backhands it around Allen whos in the butterfly and into the empty net.
