Josh Bailey 3.42 Game Score

Date: December 14th, 2017

Josh Bailey has emerged as an elite playmaker for the New York Islanders. Josh Bailey has been elite. That’s right. I said it. I know some will say that the first eight years Bailey was far from elite. And it’s true. But this year, with a pace of 105 points, still.

Bailey is tied for the league lead in assists and second in the league in points behind only Nikita Kucherov at 56 points.

This is the quality of Josh Bailey this season. And it was on full display in a 6-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road.

Bailey isn’t known for his goal scoring. Of his 356 NHL points, 118 of them are goals. Of his 50 points, this season 12 are goals. The guys a pass-first type of player. But on this night his goalscoring form shone. Bailey scored his first career hat-trick.

Three goals in a single night from the former ninth overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. No one expected him to put up a hat-trick. As a Bailey supporter, it felt outstanding. As an Islanders fan, it was bittersweet that it happened on a night where they were outplayed by a divisional rival.

That’s our top three. I would have loved to have seen a goalie earn a top spot, but all of their good scores took place at the start of the 2016-17 season and so they don’t count. Hopefully, when we do this list again in 2018 one of the goalies will have stolen a game for the Isles. Hopefully.
