SUNRISE, FL – APRIL 08: Sam Reinhart

Sam Reinhart

Sam Reinhart, C/RW- Age, 22. Height, 6-1. Weight, 193 lbs. Shoots- Right

Contract- $894,167, RFA after 17/18 season.

Reinhart is very talented and still young. He’s gonna be getting a raise next year, but as an RFA he’s still under team control. Hopefully, the Islanders would re-sign him to a two to three-year bridge contract for mid-shelf money.

A capable goal producer, Reinhart has also managed to keep even possession metrics despite playing with a benighted bunch in Buffalo. He plays lots of RW, and NY should easily be able to find a spot for him.

Starting Point For Negotiations

Josh Ho-Sang- Crazy skillset, needs time to adjust to league play. Could turn into an all-star level performer, but is butting heads with the Isles development program.

Shane Prince- Grew up an hour from Buffalo, he’s a decent bottom six option.

Draft Pick- A second rounder in 2018. They have two of them after all.

Upside- The Islanders don’t have to deal with Ho-Sang’s development anymore, and get an equally young talent who is willing to be a team player.
