Bad: Introducing us to Capuanonsense

This was a term coined by a former writer of ours. It was his term for things Jack Capuano would say during press conferences. So when you remember the ridiculous things Jack Capuano would say, that’s “Capuanonsense”.

Here are some of his greatest hits:

Puck Luck: If the New York Islanders had a bad game you could count on Capuano to toss this line out to take the blame away from his players. We know that luck forms a large part of NHL hockey. But to determine the fate of a game when your players were clearly inferior.

Work Harder: If puck luck wasn’t to blame it was all about working harder and smarter. Although generally that’s been changed to include Jack Capuano’s unmistakable accent. The phrase reached absurd levels with the fan base and Capuano dolled out his favourite tagline nightly. It didn’t matter what the result was.

If you’ve followed the Islanders long enough you undoubtedly have your least favourite Capuano phrase (or phrases). These are but a few.
