Casey Cizikas skated at practice yesterday and there’s a good chance he’ll be ready to go as the New York Islanders take on the Florida Panthers.
The last time Casey Cizikas suited up for the New York Islanders it was when the team put up a beatdown on the Broadway Blue Shirts. That was way back on January 13, he’s been sidelined with an injury ever since.
But there are positive signs on the Casey Cizikas front. He along with Andrew Ladd and Johnny Boychuk skated at practice yesterday.
Andrew Ladd and Johnny Boychuk probably aren’t ready to return, but there’s a chance Cizikas is good to go according to his coach. That’d be a huge deal for the Islanders who have had one of the skimpiest bottom sixes in recent history.
In 40 games this year Cizikas has 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists). He’s on pace for a 20 point season which would be a bit of a step back for him compared to the last two years.
The Islanders have gotten little to no production from Alan Quine, Ross Johnston, Shane Prince, Steve Bernier, Michael Dal Colle or Tanner Fritz who they called up to help try bolster that bottom six.
Although Cizikas is having a down year you know he’s a better player than all the other replacements who combined for seven points in 50 games.
