The New York Islanders no-showed for either of their two games the last two days following the All-Star game. It sure feels like rock bottom.

Last night the New York Islanders looked lost at home against the Florida Panthers. It was incredibly frustrating because the Islanders had an opportunity to reach a playoff spot with a win. Well, tonight wasn’t much better.

The Leafs came out flying in the first period. They got goals from Kasperi Kapanen and Auston Matthews. Sure, it was only a two-goal deficit but you already knew the game was over just due to the lack of heart.

Doug Weight’s team had just three shots on goal…three. The Leafs had 11 and were able to score on two of them.

The second period wasn’t so pretty either. Let’s take a look at Mitch Marner goal at the 10:32 mark:

It only got worse from there. The Maple Leafs added one more goal before the period’s end this time courtesy of Travis Dermott, his first career NHL goal.

In the third period, it was Justin Holl scoring his first goal of the season. In fact, he wasn’t even on the roster this morning. He was an emergency call-up and he got his first goal on a weak Greiss effort in net.

The Islanders lost an embarrassing one, by a score of 5-0. The team doesn’t play again until Saturday night. At this point thank goodness because I don’t think I can sit through another one of these anytime soon.
