New York Islanders Four Players Finally Scoring in 2017-18

Casey Cizikas
Production Since All-Star Game: 1G, 1A
To be fair to Cizikas he’s just getting back from an injury. And he isn’t even playing his prefered position. The team is taking precautions with Cizikas’ hand and putting him on the wing rather that at center where he’ll have to take faceoffs all night long.
But since coming back on January 30th, Cizikas has two points in back-to-back games. That represents his first point since December 27th or nine games.
With these two most recent points Cizikas is on pace for 21 points. A far cry from the 29 he put up just two seasons ago.
But the question at hand is “can Casey Cizikas continue this level of production?” No. Absoltuely not. And who cares if he does? The Islanders need Casey Cizikas to help the Islanders on the penalty kill.
A PK that’s ranked 30th of 31 teams with a 73.7% efficiency. I’d be ok if Casey Cizikas didn’t score another point this season if it mean that the Islanders penalty kill could improve to 80%.
Next: Ryan Pulock Extension Idea
Eighty percent would rank the Islanders 17th in the league. And all it would take would be for them to kill another 46 penalties without conceeding once. It’s a lot, I know.
