New York Islanders Daily: Ross Johnston Is Having An Impact

Ross Johnston has actually had a pretty nice impact to the New York Islanders in the four games he’s played with the team.
The New York Islanders had a soul-crushing loss last night to the Buffalo Sabres, Although one bright spot for the Islanders, and their bottom six has actually been Ross Johnston.
The 23-year-old has played in just four games this year but his impact has been felt for this team filling in on the fourth line. Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck have been far from their once forceful selves ever since Matt Martin has left.
Johnston has added some life to an otherwise lifeless unit. In four games he has three points (2 goals, 1 assists). He’s not getting a ton of ice time, but when he is on the ice the Islanders are actually getting some sort of production out of their weaker two lines.
Last night he scored this big goal to get them back in the game:
I said this on the EOI Twitter page but I’ll say it again here for those who missed it: Alan Quine and Jason Chimera should never play again.
Quine and Chimera should be scratched every night, along with Dennis Seidenberg but that’s a story for another day. Call up Ho-Sang and lets at the very least try to make the Isles bottom six functional again.
Isles Tweet Of The Day
It doesn’t matter. Give up 40-50 shots, give up 4-5 goals. Give up 20-25 shots, give up 4-5 goals. But, yeah, it’s the injuries, Garth. Yeah, that’s it. What a joke. #Isles

Editorials: Islanders who deserve a rest
With New York Islanders rookie Mathew Barzal getting a rest from practice, what other Islanders players could use a breather? Remember they have to play “a lot of minutes” according to Doug Weight in order to be considered.
