Brady Skjei | New York Rangers

Contract: $925,000/1year, Production: 18pts/57 games, Slot: Second Pair
Why We Want Him
The New York Rangers recently put out that they were trying to rebuild. Would they consider moving Brady Skjei across town if the package was big enough?

I think they’d have to. Skjei is 23 years old, had 39 points in his first full year last year and already has 17 this year. He’s an RFA at the end of the year and due a raise for sure but if the Rangers are really trying to get a new identity, they could acquire a lot of fresh faces and future draft selections for this guy.

An offensive defenseman who can pair with Ryan Pulock for the next few years behind Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk honestly sounds too good.

Why We Don’t Want Him
The asking price is going to be insane for Skjei. You can kiss a bunch of high picks goodbye, some top prospects goodbye and potentially a solid NHL player currently on the roster goodbye as well.

You’d have to give up the farm to get him, and it’d be up to you, or in this case Garth Snow if he’d be willing to go all in for this guy.

I really like his game a lot, I think he’d be a great fit it’s just the cost truly scares me.
