Anton Stralman | Tampa Bay Lightning

Contract: $4.5 million/2 years, Production: 14 pts/53 games, Slot: Second/Third pair
Why We Want Him
Anton Stralman is a journeyman defenseman who has been on four different teams over his career. Everywhere he goes through one thing remains certain. The guy produces.

So far in 53 games this year he has 14 points (4 goals, ten assists). He’s paired with Victor headman on their top pair so we know that even at age 31 he can still.

He wouldn’t be a rental either; he’s under contract for one more year at $4.5 million a reasonable contract that the Islanders can afford for another year.

Why We Don’t Want Him
What are the Islanders going to have to give up to get him? The Lightning are amongst the biggest contenders in the Eastern Conference. In order to get him, you’re going to have to give a king’s ransom.

Will it be worth it is part two of the question? He’s certainly seen better days I don’t think he puts up 39 points again.

He’s likely more of a short-term solution than a long-term answer. If you want to go all-in now you make this move; if you like having a future in mind, you don’t.
