NEW YORK, NY – FEBRUARY 13: The Columbus Blue Jackets celebrate after a goal by Pierre-Luc Dubois /

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets goal this season was to make the playoffs again. Make sure that last season wasn’t just a fluke. It wasn’t an accident.

For a while, this season it looked like the Blue Jackets would make good on that goal. They were within the top three in the division for most of the 2017-18 season. With one of the best goalies in the league in Sergei Bobrovsky at his usual best that made it easy.

But recently “The Bob” has slipped up, a bit. Which exposes the holes in the Blue Jackets game. They aren’t very deep down the middle, outside of Werenski and Jones they aren’t that great defensively either.

With that, the Blue Jackets have started to slip in the tight Metropolitan Division standings. At the time of writing they find themselves out of a playoff position thanks to a tiebreaker to the Carolina Hurricanes.

With the Florida Panthers a single point behind them and with three games in hand, the pressure is on for John Tortorella. Torts is going to have to use every tool in his two-time winning Jack Adams toolbox, to turn this around. (Yeah, Torts won it twice).
