Every year we create a March Madness New York Islanders themed bracket. Last year it was voting for the greatest player in franchise history. This year it’s voting on the top storyline.

Last year, New York Islanders fans voted that Mike Bossy over Denis Potvin as the team’s greatest player. This year we’re again asking you to vote.

This time, however, we’re asking you to vote on the biggest storyline for the season. What’s the one big narrative that’s been the story of the New York Islanders 2017-18 season?

We split 16 stories into two sides (Side A and Side B) and seeded them according to our perceived importance. All storylines were ranked one through eight in the two brackets.

And just like the NCAA tournament, top seeds were given the easier route to the finals. We also learned from last year’s bracket where Denis Potvin and Bryan Trottier went head-to-head in the second round. No more of that this time.

We wanted to keep the big stories from each other as long as possible.

Every day during the college basketball tournament we’re going to be asking you via the Eyes On Isles Twitter account to vote on matchups. Yesterday was the first day of voting and the results are in.
