New York Islanders: Matt Martin and Sydney Esiason Get Engaged

Former New York Islanders forward and fan favorite Matt Martin got engaged today to his long-time girlfriend Sydney Esiason.

While the New York Islanders are struggling on the ice, we’re going to take a break from the heartache and look instead to a heartwarming story. Long-time couple Matt Martin and Sydney Esiason got engaged today.

Martin was a part of the Islanders team from 2009-2010 as a 20-year old, through the 2015-2016 season. He was beloved by fans due to his tough attitude on the ice and leadership and charity work off it.

So when we found out that he was getting engaged to Sydney, who embraced the Islanders fan lifestyle during their relationship, it began to warm Islanders fans otherwise cold-dead hearts.

Of course, Jax, their dog, had to be there for the special event. If you follow either Matt or Sydney on social media you know how much they love their rottweiler. Of course, social media ate up this lovely proposal

So we too just wanted to give out our congratulations to one of our favorite Islanders couples. Congrats to Matt and Sydney!

Yes, the Islanders are 1-7-4 in their last 12 but at least we can smile at a nice moment for one of our all-time favorites.
