New York Islanders Daily: Ryan Pulock Is Quietly On Fire

Despite the New York Islanders recent struggles, Ryan Pulock has been on an insane hot streak yet few have taken notice of it.
In a year in which Mathew Barzal has stolen the show for the New York Islanders, it’s easy to forget about their other young players. Ryan Pulock has taken a back seat, but he shouldn’t go unnoticed for his services.
Pulock got off to a slow start early on, partially due to playing time (or lack thereof) but he has put together a very solid season. In 58 games he has 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists). But what if we broke down his season a little more.
What if I told you that in his past 34 games Ryan Pulock has put up 20 points. Yep, 80 percent of his points have come in 59 percent of his games. If Pulock were to keep that kind of scoring pace up for a full 82 game season he’d be a 48 point player.
I think at his ceiling Ryan Pulock could be just that, a guy who can produce in the upper 40’s to even low 50’s in points. It’s kind of refreshing to feel like Pulock has finally developed into that role.
That’s not a knock on him. The Islanders did everything in their power to keep Ryan Pulock from developing. Like I said, earlier this year he wasn’t playing consistently and last year he played in just one NHL game.
Pulock’s recent production has been overlooked due to this terrible funk the Islanders are in and Mathew Barzal’s Calder winning season. He’s a special player that Islanders fans should appreciate a lot more.
