Brandon Davidson

2017-18 AAV: $1.425 million
The trade deadline savior of the New York Islanders 2017-18 season. He was the defender that would come in and make the Islanders back end better. Too bad the issues with the Islanders defense is greater than a single player.

Look I said that Davidson would be a good addition for the Islanders. He’s got good shot suppression numbers and good at playing a safe and simple game. And to be fair he’s been doing a good job of that so far. But there’s another five guys out there that are still bad.

Although at what point is the issue less about personnel and more about the system? Either way. Davidson has been exactly as labeled. He’s done exactly what he was brought in to do.

So does that mean the Islanders keep him on the roster? You’d have to imagine that if this was any other team he wouldn’t. But because it’s the Islanders and we know how much Garth Snow loves his depth defensemen I think he might be staying around.

With Dennis Seidenberg walking and maybe even one of Thomas Hickey and Calvin de Haan also going Garth is going to want to fill that spot with another depth D. And why not do so with a guy they already got?

It’s an incredibly Garth move. And maybe it saves him from having to pick up an aging veteran in the offseason. Cause that’s something that clearly has to be done. (Sarcasm aplenty)
