New York Islanders Need To Revamp Defense For 2018-2019

Make A Trade With Arizona
If the New York Islanders want to compete next year they need a completely revamped look defensively. There’s no way they can continue to trot out their same defensive pairings from this year and expect any change.
The Islanders do have some defensemen coming off the books, such as Calvin de Haan, Thomas Hickey, and Dennis Seidenberg, which allows them to make improvements. Unfortunately, signing guys like Scott Mayfield to a long-term is a bit of a hindrance when it comes to trades, but we’ll do our best.
Unfortunately, the UFA class doesn’t have too many impact guys that will be available, especially ones under 30 years old. So that leaves one other option; A trade.
Arizona seems like a good trade partner especially come draft time. Here’s a potential blockbuster trade the Islanders should do to improve their blue-line:
In this move, the Islanders get two upgrades at the defense position and a late round pick in this year’s draft, while Arizona gets one of the best power-forwards in the game, a first-round pick a third pairing defenseman who is locked up on the cheap for the next three years, and a 21-year-old prospect from the Islanders.
