NEW YORK, NY - MARCH 22: Anthony Beauvillier /

New York Islanders future might not look very bright but look into how some of these rookies are playing there are some positives. Like how Anthony Beauvillier is absolutely on fire now.

Anthony Beauvillier made the New York Islanders roster straight out of camp in 2016-17. He played well even though he was sitting on the bench for most of it. His 24 points int he season was a good return, but maybe more could be had from the French-Canadian.

Until the injury bug plagued the Islanders in January we hadn’t seen Beauvillier in the top six much. He had a few stints here and there, a few shifts maybe. But nothing sustained.

But when Ladd and Bailey went down with injury Beauvillier got his chance. And did he ever make the most of it.

Look At Me Now

Between October 2017 and January 2018, Anthony Beauvillier put up eight points for the Islanders. He was then sent down to the AHL to “find his game”.  He was there for what seemed like a blink of an eye.

He played two games with the Sound Tigers and put up two points before the big club needed him again.

In his first game back from Bridgeport On January 13th, 2018, Beauvillier put up two goals and an assist. That’s almost half of his production for the season, in a single night.

He hasn’t let up since. From January 18th to today, March 30th, Anthony Beauvillier has scored 23 points. That’s a pace of 0.657 points per game or 54 points over the course of an entire season.

Think about that. Since coming back from Bridgeport, Anthony Beauvillier is on a 55 point pace over a full season. Add that kind of production to Mathew Barzal (78 points) and Ryan Pulock (29 points) and that’s a healthy youthful core.
