Anthony Beauvillier has been on fire for the New York Islanders. He now has five games in a row with a goal and 21 on the season.
The New York Islanders hottest forward right now is Anthony Beauvillier. If you told me earlier in the season that Beau would have this kind of impact I wouldn’t have believed you, but here we are.
Anthony Beauvillier was struggling through the first half of the season. It yielded a trip to the AHL where he put up two goals in three games. After that stint, he was paired up with Mathew Barzal on the Islanders second line and the rest is history.
In his rookie year, Beauvillier gave the Islanders a 24 point (nine goals, 15 assists) season. Those numbers aren’t great but he showed some promising signs of becoming a decent NHL role player. In year two, he now has 36 points (21 goals, 15 assists) and is a part of arguably the Islanders best line in Beauvillier – Barzal – Eberle.
Those three make up the second line and are all certainly big parts of the Islanders future going forward. With the emergence of Beau, the Isles now have five players with over 20 goals.
Before this year, Beau seemed like a potential trade chip but now the Islanders would be foolish to move him. He’s as much a part of this team as any other youth member. Between Beau, Barzal, and Pulock the Islanders have a nice core of youngsters under control for a while.
