1. Rasmus Dahlin (D) | Buffalo Sabres

Frolunda HC, 6’2″, 182 lbs | 41 games, 21 points (7G, 13A)

Rasmus Dahlin is the clear number one pick in this year’s draft. Dahlin is a smart two-way defenseman who can play in just about any situation.

Many view him as a franchise-altering defenseman, which would be awesome if the Islanders somehow win the lottery, and he’ll have an immediate impact to whichever team picks him.

With names like Brian Leetch and Erik Karlsson being thrown around as player comparison the Sabres will be licking their chops if they come away with the number one pick.

2. Andrei Svechnikov (RW) | Ottawa Senators

Barrie Colts, 6’3″, 187 lbs | 44 games, 72 points (40G, 32A)

Svechnikov is an elite-goal scorer. It was on full display with his 40 goal season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL this year.

Andrei is a fantastic stick handler, but he also knows where to position himself to be in the best spot to score goals. That kind of hockey IQ is rare to find in a young prospect.

He’s not just a pure goal scorer either, he’s a playmaker and would be a fantastic addition to the Ottawa Senators. He’s got top-line star written all over him.

3. Filip Zadina (LW) | Arizona Coyotes

Halifax Mooseheads, 6’1″, 192 lbs | 57 games, 82 points (44G, 38A)

It’s safe to say Zadina has adjusted to the North America game. In his first year in the QMJHL, he put up 82 points and 44 goals which is beyond impressive.

He’s a dynamic offensive forward that can play a complete game. He has comparable puck-skills to any current star in the league, which is a great sign for Arizona.

Don’t let the high offensive talent fool you, Zadina is a stud in the defensive zone as well. He’s a very good puck possession player as well.
