New York Islanders Daily: Lamoriello and Brisson in Near Daily Contact

Since Lou Lamoriello took over the New York Islanders, he’s been in contact with John Tavares’ agent Pat Brisson on an almost daily basis.
Lou Lamoriello taking control of the New York Islanders is a big step in the right direction. After the hire, fans and media members too felt more confident that John Tavares would stay on Long Island with Lou in charge.
Yesterday, we got another great sign courtesy of TSN that Lou Lamoriello is making a difference in the John Tavares field.
According to Frank Seravalli, Lou Lamoriello has been talking to Pat Brisson, Tavares’ agent, on a near daily basis since he was hired. Lou is making it clear that his number one priority at the moment is getting Tavares to stay.
Like we said when it originally happened, I’m much more confident in Lou pitching Tavares and his agent than Garth Snow trying to make the effort. Garth doesn’t have anything on his resume besides longevity, Lou has three cups and proven success that he can dangle in front of Tavares’ face.
In all likelihood, Tavares still probably talks to other teams on June 24, just because we’ve gotten this far. It could be a similar situation to Stamkos where he talks to other teams but ultimately decides to stay two days before free agency opens.
You have to feel confident in Lou to get the job done. If Lou locks up Tavares and fixes the defense and play in net the Islanders will be in great shape heading into the 2018-2019 season.
