New York Islanders Three Trade Target From St Louis Blues

Carter Hutton | G
Stats: 0.931SV%, 2.09GAA, 17-7-3 Record
I can’t stop, nor will I stop linking Carter Hutton to the New York Islanders. His availability just makes way too much sense for the Islanders. He’s the best available goalie on the market.
On July 1st, 2018, Carter Hutton becomes an unrestricted free agent and available to all 31 teams. The New York Islanders should pounce. Maybe even earlier than July 1st.
Yes, Hutton has been a career backup. But look at his stats. He’s a career 0.915 SV% and 2.42GAA goaltender. That’s lightyears above what both New York Islanders goalies did this last season.
While we’re talking about last season, Carter Hutton was a 0.931 SV% and 2.07GAA goaltender through 32 games played in 2018-19. How does that sound? Even if he regresses back to what his career average says he is, he’s still stopping one to two percent more than Halak or Greiss.
Doesn’t sound like a lot? Think of it this way. The Islanders allowed roughly 2919 shots against last season. Having Hutton-like stats means the Isles let in 29 to 58 goals less over the year. That’s between 264 to 235 goals against rather than 294. Ranking the Isles fourth to 19th in goals against in the NHL and not first.
That’s a huge difference.
The Islanders could toss the St Louis Blues a third-round pick to secure Hutton’s negotiating rights before July 1st. Hutton isn’t going to get a starting gig over Jake Allen. He’ll come.
Then it’s just a matter of signing him. He’s was on the cap for $1.12 million last season. A raise to $3 million would absolutely get it done.
