Draft week is here and it’s expected to be an extremely busy week for the New York Islanders who are looking for a coach and potentially a trade.

Arguably the busiest time in hockey is upon us. The 2017-2018 season just came to a close 11 days ago, and already it gets ramped up real quick with the NHL Draft coming this Friday. It’s particularly going to be a busy week for the New York Islanders.

The Islanders are without a head coach after Lou Lamoriello came in and shook things up. There will likely be a decision before the draft commences on Friday evening. It’s very rare for a team to be at the draft table without a coach, so be on the lookout for an answer in the coming days.

On top of that, the Islanders are sitting on four picks in the top 50. With needs at the goalie position and on the blue line, this week, and draft day could be a time where Lou Lamoriello addresses those needs via trade.

We had our first big move of the offseason with the Alex Galchenyuk and Max Domi trade, Lou Lamoriello likely won’t be too far behind.

This is what we’ve all been waiting for. Ever since Garth Snow acquired picks for Travis Hamonic the question was what would the Islanders do with those picks? We’ll find out any day now. Buckle up, it’s about to be an exciting ride.

Everyone knows the New York Islanders need to significantly improve their blue-line this off-season. They have major assets they could deal to make this a reality. The Minnesota Wild could be an ideal trading partner.
