The Eyes on Isles Podcast returns for episode number 44 as Matt and Mitch will discuss all things New York Islanders on and off the ice.

This is going to be the busiest week of the 2018 year for the New York Islanders. Friday is the NHL Draft which means, there will likely be a trade, a new coach and potentially a better idea if John Tavares is staying or not.

We’ll start the show by talking about the now obvious choice for head coach, we’ll get into who else might be let go from the Islanders, a draft preview and some positive updates from John Tavares.

Here’s what you can expect from episode 43:

Short Topics

Coaching

Barry Trotz is now available, and the only open NHL coaching job is with the Islanders. It’s simple math folks. On top of that, there’s another Islanders coach we think needs to get the ax, we’ll talk about who that is.

OEL off the market

With Oliver Ekman-Larsson inking an extension, what can the Islanders do at defense and how does it affect your top-four.

Draft Preview

The Islanders have a ton of options with the NHL draft. We’ll break down the pros and cons to trading picks, and guys who might be there.

Long Topic: John Tavares

John Tavares is focused on contract negotiations with the Islanders. If the Islanders are able to land Trotz and add a goalie to the mix at the bare minimum they’ll be in great shape at the negotiations table.

Social Segment

We’ll get into the latest on Isles Twitter, and most definitely listen to Mitch rant and rave about the World Cup.

Next: Trotz on the market
