5. Brady Tkachuk

The Arizona Coyotes are not going to have any anxiety over who they will select with the fifth overall pick. Reason being is Dahlin is the clear number one overall selection and the next tier is Svechnikov, Zadina, and Tkachuk.

With Svechnikov and Zadina off the board, the obvious selection is Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk is a son of a former NHLer (Keith) and brother of an NHLer (Matthew) and is a six-foot-three, 196-pound power forward. The young American brings offense, skill, toughness, and grit. Tkachuk has a lot of tools including intangibles as well.

Tkachuk will be a fantastic addition to Arizona who is likely dreaming of a Tkachuck and Oliver Ekman-Larsson top-pair in a couple of years.

6. Quinton Hughes

Quinton Hughes is an extremely talented hockey player he has one thing going against him though, his height. Standing at five-foot-nine, scouts may hold that against him.

Depending on the mock draft you consult, Hughes has been seen as high as sixth overall, where we have him, to the middle of the first round. Detroit takes the Michigan man, with the sixth overall pick.

Hughes had a very productive season in the NCAA this past year with 29 points (five goals, 24 assists) in 37 games. He’s a fantastic skater which is why Detroit will take the risk on the smaller statured Hughes.
