New York Islanders Daily: Lamoriello’s Best Quote

New York Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello spoke to the Sirius XM NHL yesterday and dropped my all-time favorite quote.
The New York Islanders fanbase has been in a bit of a tailspin this past week for obvious reasons. We’re not even a full week removed from one of the darkest days in New York Islanders history, but thankfully we have Lou Lamoriello.
I think I’d feel ten times worse about this organization if it was still Garth Snow and Doug Weight at the helm in their current situation. Thankfully, Lamoriello’s wise words were soothing to the ear and made us feel a little more confident.
Lamoriello got philosophical on us while also potentially throwing shade at Tavares in my new favorite quote:
Lamoriello: “Individuals win games, but teams win championships.” #Isles @SiriusXMNHL

Throw that up there with “there’s no I in team” for best cliche sports quotes. Lamoriello’s right though look at the Capitals, yes Alex Ovechkin is a huge part to why they won but depth players like Devante Smith-Pelly are also a huge reason for winning games.
You need depth, which I think Lamoriello used this quote to justify some of his moves. Hopefully, the Islanders roster isn’t close to done, but if it is Lou gave me confidence that this team is going in the right direction.
Isles Tweet of the Day
Pretty sure Darcy Tucker on Michael Peca in 02 was where it was born for most current #Isles fans... https://t.co/RNgzR2vE9M
