The New York Islanders made four acquisitions as free agency began on July 1. How do they rank in terms of potential impact on the team?

New York Islanders President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello has his work cut out for him this offseason. As of July 1he hah holes up and down the roster. And as free agency opened up it was time for him to start addressing them.

The Islanders already had gaps in the lineup before Tavares left, and then when free agency opened up we were treated to Leo Komarov and Valtteri Filppula. It wasn’t inspiring. What we lost was far greater than what was coming in.

But then as we got later into the month of July the signings got better and better. First, he addressed goaltending by bringing in Robin Lehner. And now, most recently, he brought in a center to sit behind Mat Barzal in Jan Kovar.

But even with those two signings, the Islanders lineup is still loaded with bottom six players. It’s not exactly what we had in mind when free agency opened.

The plan for Lou at the moment seems to solidify the baseline areas of the roster. Get some good depth in the bottom six, and then try to identify where the talent is in the organization. Think of it as a bottoms-up approach.

Of the five players that Lou brought in as of July 1, which will have the biggest impact on the Islanders roster in 2018-19?
