At the World Junior Summer Showcase, New York Islanders prospect Noah Dobson impressed in the two games he played.

Having Noah Dobson available at 12th overall was a dream come true for the New York Islanders. He, along with Oliver Wahlstrom, was mocked to go in the top-10 by many, so to be able to select both back-to-back was awesome.

The 18-year-old shined in his first time playing at U-20 level. In Canada’s game against Sweeden, Dobson scored twice in Canada’s 4-3 win. He would go on to score another one over the weekend for three goals in two games.

Scoring at a high rate is nothing new for Noah Dobson. Playing in the QMJHL, he had 69 points in 67 games (17 goals, 52 assists).

Dobson’s a bigger guy, at six-foot-three, 176 pounds and he isn’t the fastest skater. If he continues to work on his skating he can become a top-four defenseman pretty handily. He’s already on that trajectory right now and he’s expected to fill out and develop some more this year in the Q.

Dobson likely won’t be ready for the 2019 season, like his first-round pick mate Oliver Wahlstrom, but by 2021 he should be able to take over on the top-pair for a declining Johnny Boychuk. Dobson is someone you’ll want to keep an eye on this year, whether it’s in the Q or at Juniors.
