Anthony Beauvillier

For Beauvillier we already know he can bounce back. We saw him struggle in the first half of the 2017-18 season. A struggle that ended with him being sent down to the AHL. He lasted two games in the lower league before injuries required the Islanders to call him back to the NHL.

Beau never looked back.

Playing left-wing with Mathew Barzal as his center and Jordan Eberle on his right flank for the second half of 2017-18, Beauvillier was on a near 60 point pace. Beau ended the season with five goals in his last six games, where all five goals were scored in a row.

Scoring five out of every six games is insane and in no way sustainable over a full 82 game season. But a 60 point pace in 2018-19 is exactly what the New York Islanders are going to need from Anthony Beauvillier.

With Tavares walking out the door the Islanders lost 37 goals from an eighth-ranked offense in the NHL last season. Even if every other player on the roster performs at 2017-18 levels (that includes an unlikely 18 goal Josh Bailey) the Islanders would rank 24 without Tavares.

In 2018-19 Beauvillier will surely lineup with Mathew Barzal. The success both shared at the end of the season needs to be re-created come opening night in 2018-19. With a full season next to Barzal, Beauvillier should easily be able to eclipse the 21 goals and 36 points he scored in 2017-18 and start to claw away at the production Tavares took with him north of the border.
