New York Islanders youngster Anthony Beauvillier can play either center or wing, maybe he can move back to his natural position of center.

Yesterday was a big day for New York Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier. He was given a new number. Instead of 72, due to Lou Lamoriello’s militant rules Beau will wear number 18 going forward.

Speaking with Brian Compton, Beauvillier confirmed that he hasn’t been told if he will play center or left wing. Pete Jensen took that and ran with it and mocked up an Islanders top six with Beauvillier at center.

His lines were Lee – Barzal – Eberle and Bellows – Beauvillier – Bailey. Yes. Give me that on opening night and I’ll be a happy man. Before we get to Beau, this shows Kieffer Bellows making the team and being put in the top six which is exactly what I’d like to see happen this year.

Beau in between Bellows and Bailey would be an interesting line. Beau and Bailey can use their speed to set stuff up while Bellows would be the finisher.

Pretty much anything keeping Brock Nelson away from the second line center position I’m cool with. Beyond that, the Islanders could go with Ladd – Filppula – Nelson and Komarov – Cizikas – Clutterbuck for their bottom six.

I like Anthony Beauvillier at center more than most. I’d love to see a Bellows – Beauvillier – Ho-Sang line but with the Islanders current roster I’d be shocked if we got to see it. Regardless, maybe this new regime sees Beau as a center. This training camp we might see some changes, and that’s a good thing.
