The best fourth line in hockey has been reunited for the New York Islanders and their presence has already been felt in the preseason.

When the New York Islanders traded for Matt Martin, the nostalgia senses starting going off. Could we see the fun and exciting Martin – Cizikas – Clutterbuck line back in action for the 2018-2019 season?

So far, the line has played together and they’ve looked like the same line from the 2014-2016 era that was so dominant. On Sunday they had two points on five shots on goal, it was an impressively productive game even though it’s still the preseason.

One thing to keep in mind is the chemistry this line had. Since they played together for all those years in the first stint they worked really well together. Although they might be older and overpaid now, they can still be an effective unit.

They even got the nod to go out there again in last night’s game. Leo Komarov, who was just given a four-year deal, for some reason, is also a candidate to play on the fourth line.

If the old MM – CC – CC line continues to produce like it has in the preseason it’s going to be hard to separate these guys.
