With the season approaching here are 25 bold predictions for the 2018-2019 New York Islanders season.

The 2018-2019 season is going to look a little different for the New York Islanders. First, there’s a new man in charge, Lou Lamoriello. For the past 12 years, the Islanders franchise was in the clutches of Garth Snow, and as we know by now, that tenure was an utter failure.

Also, behind the bench stands a Stanley Cup champion. In the Islanders entire history, the team has never hired a coach who won a Stanley Cup coaching before joining the Islanders. That alone is a positive sign for the direction of the franchise.

For the first time since 2009, the Islanders will be playing hockey without John Tavares on their team. It’s still weird for Islanders fans to wrap their head around that but it’s something they’re going to have to come to terms with.

This is now Mathew Barzal’s team. At age 21, he will have a lot of pressure on him as he’s now the face of the franchise.

In all likelihood, 2018-2019 will be a year of transition before they’re ready to compete again in 2019. but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun along the way this year. Here are 25 predictions for the 2018-2019 season.
