17: Josh Ho-Sang earns an NHL spot at some point this year

Last year, Josh Ho-Sang made the roster out of camp. He was a healthy scratch on opening night, which sent everyone into a frenzy. One year later, we would be wishing for a scenario half as good as that.

This year, with a new coach and a fresh slate, there was hope that he’d make the roster. Unfortunately, he was sent back to the AHL which has now created this nightmare of a third line.

Valtteri Filppula and Leo Komarov will likely be the third line on opening night. With Andrew Ladd hurt how neither of Keiffer Bellows or Josh Ho-Sang made the roster is pretty puzzling.

To no one’s surprise, the Filppula and Komarov line will struggle and Josh Ho-Sang will get a call-up. He’s going to put up points, it’s something he’s done relatively well at the NHL level in the small sample size we’ve seen.

He’s got 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 43 career games. Once he gets called up for the third time he won’t go back down to the AHL again. By January Josh will be a regular part of the Islanders offense and fans will forget about the defensive “issues” in his game
