New York Islanders: 25 Bold Predictions For 2018-2019 Season

19: Anders Lee signs six-year $42 million extension
Over the past two seasons, Anders Lee has been an extremely effective goal scorer. He’s had 74 goals since the 2016-2017 season got underway which puts him right towards the top in the entire league.
Due to that production, Lee deserves to be rewarded. He’s on the final year of a four-year $15 million ($3.75 million) AAV deal. That’s been a steal for the past two seasons as Lee has developed into the best power forward in the sport.
For comparison, we’ll look at what James van Riemsdyk just signed. He got five-years $35 million from the Flyers so a comparable AAV and an extra year seems about right for when pinpointing Anders Lee’s value.
If he does ink an extension, which I’m predicting comes at some point this season, he should be considered as the next captain of the franchise. He does wonders on and off the ice for the club.
By the time the trade deadline comes, Anders will be inked to a new deal. Just like what we saw with Josh Bailey last year.
