New York Islanders: 25 Bold Predictions For 2018-2019 Season

18: Robin Lehner’s save percentage is .918 or better
The New York Islanders have a new goalie, and his name is Robin Lehner. Lehner spent the last few years with the Buffalo Sabres, and in two of the last three years, he was very productive in Western New York.
Last year, as we now know, he was suffering from addiction and struggling with mental health issues. Now, Lehner seems like in a much better place mentally as we gear up for the 2018-2019 season.
In two of the three last season’s Lehner had a save percentage north of .920. It was last year where it fell down to .908 on the season with his GAA up to 3.01. That will change this year.
Robin Lehner will be working with goalie guru Mitch Korn. Korn has worked with Pekka Rinne, Braden Holtby and many other goalies who went on to have success under Barry Trotz. Last year league average save percentage was .912.
Assuming Lehner to be slightly above average isn’t nuts, especially with a much better team in front of him than what he was used to in Buffalo.
