We’re only three games into the 2018-19 NHL season, but based on what we’ve seen, what can we possibly expect from the New York Islanders?
It’s way too early to project what the New York Islanders are capable of for the remaining 79 games of the regular season. But without a game until Saturday we have time to think about what we’ve seen so far.
Over their first three games of the season, the Islanders are 2-1-0. They won ugly in their opener against the Carolina Hurricanes. They followed that up by dropping the home opener to the Nashville Predators 4-3. And then beat out one of the better teams in the league 4-0.
From the start of the season, the New York Islanders have been getting better and better. They’ve been able to identify weaknesses and address them.
Because of this the New York Islanders are surprising a number of us. We all knew they’d win some games, but with the way they’re playing this early they’ve got some us (at least myself) thinking positive.
By thinking positive I mean, they could actually be better than we believed them to be at the start of the season.
With that in mind, here are three hot takes that are entirely fueled by this optimism from the Islanders opening three games.
And yes, I know, it’s way too early.
