Tonight’s Game

The Nashville Predators are 3-1-0 so far this season. On this three-game homestand, they’re 1-1-0 so far with a 3-0 loss to the Calgary Flames followed by a feisty 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

With a 2-1-0 start to the season, the New York Islanders are going to look to continue proving everyone wrong. Most of us had them as a bottom tier team before a puck was dropped on the 2018-19 season. But here they are looking to take six points from a possible eight.

Unfortunately for the New York Islanders, they’ll have to do so without Casey Cizikas. The Isles third line center is out for tonight’s game. To take his spot, the New York Islanders signed Stephen Gionta from his extended PTO.

Which means that down the middle the Islanders stack up as follows: Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, Valtteri Filppula, and Stephen Gionta. If not for Filppula’s point-per-game start to the season that depth would certainly be cringe-worthy.

Starting Goalies
Islanders: Robin Lehner
1-0-0, 0.00GAA, 1.00SV%

The Islanders are going with Robin Lehner between the pipes. It’s clear that Barry Trotz is running the Greiss-Lehner tandem as a 1A-1B. Play well and you get to keep the crease. With a 35 save shutout against the San Jose Sharks in his first start of the season the last time out, Lehner gets to stay.

Predators: Juuse Saros
1-0-0, 3.00GAA, 0.897SV%

Saros was in net the last time the Islanders faced off against the Predators. While the heir apparent to Pekka Rinne’s crease in Nashville got the win in Brooklyn, he didn’t look great doing so.
